Has it ever happened that you are going through a bad day, then it turns into a bad week & sometimes a bad month? Or you feel you’ve been cursed by someone as you keep having a rough time and have hit an all-time new low. You are just waiting for it to be over so you can get back on track and do things that actually turn out good. I know the feeling. It’s very normal and it happens to everyone, no you’re not cursed, you’re just going through a bad phase. You might be feeling very tired and sick of everything.
This blog post is for you to deal with the same.
Sometimes we overthink a situation so much that it creates a problem when there wasn’t even one. Yes we go through tough times, we all have our ups and downs but it all depends on our perspective. If we constantly think that we’re in a low phase, nothing you will ever do will turn out good. When you’ve already decided in your mind that it isn’t going to go well, it will never go well. Instead, you will spiral into a negative mindset which will not only harm you but will also have a bad effect on people close to you.
If you accept that you’re going through a rough time and make peace with it, you will most certainly get over it sooner. Having said that, accepting it doesn’t mean you stop trying, you keep trying to get out of that phase by taking little steps forward. You don’t want to get stuck in the mud, you need to get out of it. So keep trying, but if things don’t work out, accept this isn’t your best time.
Don’t think of it as something permanent. Just like every storm has an end, it will end too. Sun always comes up after a night. Don’t lose hope. Have faith that everything happens for a reason. You cannot always be having the best time, if you do, you will stop appreciating it. So a few roadblocks and obstacles are necessary for you to realise the importance of a smooth road. This way, you won’t take anything for granted in life. You will experience joy when you finally reach a time where things go in your favour, you will know how it feels to work hard for it.
Have hope that the sun will shine on you again. Just take every day as it comes. Baby steps to reach the destination.
If you still feel hopeless or lost when thinking about what to do next or where should you start, just start with simple small things, stick to your routine and do the work you need to do. Remember that, there is no one else on the planet who can adjust, adapt, and understand your situation better than you. You are facing this situation because you are capable of dealing with it. You know how to get out of it, you just need to open your mind to all the possibilities around you.
Don’t look for anyone to help you. People can be good listeners and might offer you some advice, but no one would do the work to pull you out of a bad situation. Don’t depend on anyone to help you, do not expect people to give you a hand. No one else can help you with this, except you. You need to do this alone, for yourself.
Don’t bury your feelings or try to avoid it
Don’t be harsh on yourself, take care of your thoughts and emotions while going through this. If you’re feeling happy, be happy. If you’re feeling sad, be sad. . Give time to yourself to process everything and your emotions. Appreciate everything you’re feeling so that they don’t build up inside you. Indulge in something that might bring you inner peace. Try meditation or yoga to help you have a sense of relaxation. Listen to soothing sounds that will refresh your mind. Remember that even when you’re going through a bad time, you still need to feel good about yourself, you still deserve to be happy and laugh. Your situation shouldn’t dictate your feelings about yourself.
To make this time a little less awful, try to do things that make you happy. They don’t need to be productive or contribute something to your work. Just do it because it makes you happy. Go for a run, have a meal at your favourite place, cook or bake at home. Anything that will uplift your mood. We often ignore the small things we do every day, we do it out of a habit instead of enjoying it.
This is your time to enjoy every small moment of your day.
Although it seems tough, you should try to focus on things that are in your favour and everything that you have. Be grateful for the things that worked out, be grateful that you were able to see a morning, have a meal, and sleep peacefully. Practice gratitude and you will be able to see things positively. When you cherish things, they grow. It might provide you a better outlook in life, motivate you to never give up. Appreciate everything around you, food, shelter, people, and nature too. You will be surprised to learn how much it affects your mindset.
Don’t allow a bad phase to ruin your perspective on life, a bad phase does not last, what is now will not be forever. The lessons embedded within them last a lifetime. Don’t allow a bad phase to harden your heart or make you turn your back on the goodness that is rooted within your being. Not being in a good phase doesn’t give you or anybody else the right to not be kind and good. You never know how much your words affect people. You don’t want to be a reason behind someone’s pain. Choose to be happy, kind, and polite despite your circumstances.
