There were times when we wished to get a day or a week off to just relax and catch up with all the work, socialize and set the reset button. Those were the times when we were all submerged with work, meetings, tasks along with the social events. Who knew our wishes would come true in such a way. Due to Covid-19, almost all of the world is under quarantine or has been advised to self-isolate.
It is necessary to practice social distancing and follow the order of authorities to save our lives along with others. I know it can be tough living inside for who knows how long, it gets really boring after initial 2-3 days. So, I have compiled below a list of 20 things you can do while in Quarantine so you don’t get bored and kill someone or worse cut your own hairs and decide to have bangs. 😉
1. Read
Pick up that book from your bookshelf you always wanted to read but couldn’t get the time. Now you have all the time to read as many books you want. Discuss it with your friends or join a book club to make quarantine more interesting.
2. Pick a hobby
There is always a hobby that you had to leave or forgot about it because you just couldn’t get the time. It’s time to go back to it and enjoy it. If you didn’t have any such hobby, pick anything that interests you and have fun with it. It can be anything – music, painting, sketching, writing a poem, singing or dancing. There are no limits.
3. Practice healthy eating
Now that you’re home and do not have to pick just whatever you get to eat or have lunch meetings, dates or hangout with friends, it’s a good time to start practicing healthy eating. It becomes really easy when you’re in Quarantine. Utilize this opportunity to eat healthy and nutritious food, which will also build up your immunity to fight the diseases.
4. Organize / Declutter
Start from a corner of your home and declutter it. We all have a space that’s so messy that we don’t even think about organizing it. This is the perfect time to take up that task. Declutter your closet, work space, vanity, kitchen, living area. This can also serve as a way of relaxing. Turn up the music and go for it.
5. Get creative
Let your creative juices flow. Dig out those water colors from your storage and start painting or get some pencils and sketch a beautiful scenery. Write a song or a book you always wanted to. Try that makeup look and as James Charles say – Unleash your inner artist.
6. Learn Cooking or baking
The recipes that you always wanted to try, those muffins, cakes that you crave for during times you couldn’t help but ignore it. Well now you have the time to learn all those recipes, experiment with food and be an ace at it.
7. Watch movies or tv shows
There are plenty of movies or tv shows you can watch to pass your time and enjoy while at home. Binge watching is nothing to feel guilty about during this time but make sure you take short breaks too.
8. Do a 10 minute workout or try yoga
Follow a youtube workout routine. Try yoga poses. It is a great time to get that body you desire. A simple 10 minute workout can make you feel good and energize you for the whole day so you don’t just sit and scroll through instagram.
9. Meditate
It is important to take care of your mental health during this time. Meditate in a quite room or install an app to help you do the same. It is very useful to calm your mind while all this chaos is going on in this world.
10. Start working on that project
Remember that side hustle you always wanted to accomplish but couldn’t gather the efforts, time or resources to start. Well what perfect time than this? You can start small but all you need to do is start. You’ve run out of excuses to avoid it, so just do it already.
11. Spend time with your family.
All those times you had to leave when you wanted to stay and spend time with your family, it’s time to compensate. Sit with your family and talk about all the things you used to do, take out old albums or facetime them if they live far. Check up on them from time to time, bond with them. Make up for the lost time.
12. Create a vision board
It’s not too late to think about creating a vision board. There’s never a perfect time. So get creative and make vision board consisting of all the things you want to achieve in future. It serves as a motivation when you’re feeling low.
13. Pamper Yourself
Do that 12 step skincare routine, have a nice bubble bath because why not? You have the time to take care of yourself and have that glow up you delayed due to your commitments. It would be no surprise that you came out of this quarantine with a clear and glowing skin.
14. Start an online course
Now is the accurate time to start and online course and learn something new to enhance your skill. It maybe something different from your career or something that can help you be more productive at work. You’ll be proud that you didn’t waste time sulking and thinking about your ex.
15. Have a social media detox
While you’re practicing social distancing or in quarantine, it can be a great idea to try to have a social media detox for 3-4 days or even a week. You’ll have a great time just being by yourself and enjoying your alone time. Uninstall or log out of those apps and forget about it for a couple of days. You can keep one app open for your loved ones to contact you in case of any emergency. But try to avoid social media as much as possible. The outcome will be a positive mindset.
16. Listen to podcasts
There is a plethora of podcasts on the internet you can listen to while relaxing. Categories include – self help, business, relationships, motivation, humor or life stories. They can be an effective way to increase your knowledge or improve your mental and emotional health.
17. Catch up with old friends
Facetime those friends who you lost touch with due to busy lives and work commitments. It’s a great time to reminisce those great memories and have a laugh about all the stupid stuff you did as a kid. It can rekindle your bond with them.
18. Complete those pending tasks
I’m sure there are tasks that are always pushed back to later dates and then they end up not being completed and just fill up your calendar. Take them up and finish them. Clear out your planner/ calendar as much as you can so it is easy to focus on stuff when you’re out of quarantine. This will help you plan and manage your life more effectively.
19. Learn a new language
You can install various apps available online to learn a new language for free. It is a really fun activity while you’re at home. The apps come up with different methods or games which makes learning a new language fun.

Now is an appropriate time to start journaling. You can write about your day, how you’re feeling, your goals, tasks, track your habits. It will help you keep an account of your day and also serves as an outlet for your feelings and emotions during this tough time.
